The Film Project

Posted by Filip Wejman on October 8, 2007

Here is a poll that will tell me about your willingness to participate in the movie project. The films would be shown once a month, preferably in the presence of an American professor. It could be followed by a discussion.

If you do NOT intend to participate, please DO vote as well, this is an important piece of information for me as well.

Please vote only ONCE!

Should anyone like to become the manager for this project, please put your name in a comment to this post, and write MANAGER next to it. There should not be a lot of work associated with this project, it would be mostly about renting DVDs, securing the room at Bracka or at other University premises, etc.

Here is a law movie wich I favour:

    ´A Civil Action´ (1998)

Plot: Jan Schlichtman (John Travolta) is a successful lawyer who has started his own practice. Early legal victories have made him wealthy and one of Boston’s most eligible bachelors. All of this begins to collapse after Jan begins activity on one of his firm’s cases, a lawsuit on behalf of the parents of deceased children in a small industrial town against the companies they believe to have polluted their water. The pollutant in question is trichloroethylene, an industrial solvent, and it appears to have caused fatal cases of leukemia and cancer, as well as a wide variety of other health problems, among the citizens of the town.

Jan believes that this case will be easily won, resulting in a fortune for him and the families and prestige for his firm. However, the huge expenses in both time and money incurred in the class action suit soon begin to take their toll on his finances, ambitions, and career.
